This method comes from my need to assess the settings of my cochlear implants.
My results were conflicting and not lived up to my expectations, so I have studied the operation of cochlear implants, the mapping methods, setting parameters and functions and, not least, I studied myself in all the changes that brought these tests and the influence of such changes on the brain.
Today I have 99,5% of understanding in noise, I have reinstated 100% at work and in society.
Key element in rehabilitation is the adjustement phase (mapping)of the cochlear implant. In order to reach it, it is fundamental level all the sound at the same volume.
I realized that everyone, including myself, to express themselves with mappers use subjective and peceptive comparisons, not well defined feelings difficult to explain.
Any subjective or perceptive information is not certain, leaving always a room for interpretation of those who receive such information.
A cochlear implant works with mathematical equation, so I had to provide the mapper mathematical and not subjective information.
The methos is based on a comparison of the sounds emitted by a sound generatios according to the set frequency, the same frequencies of our systems and the number of channels (electrodes) active on the map.
Everything is configurable, the brand, the implant model, the frequencies can be set for each active channel system, these frequencies are the same as for calibration of coclear implants performed by specialists.
Manual and automatic tests are preset to facilitate the execution of the test, there are parameters that determine the duration of the sounds and pauses.
Everyone builds theis own tests, run the tests in absolute calm in the preferred places, at home, at the bar, at the restaurant in the midst of noise.
After running the tests, its possible to determinate the deviation between the sounds perceived by our brain through the cochlear implant.
Such deviation will be enclosed in reports to be sent via email or delivered to the mapper.
With each new map, the mapper will continue testing to verify the changes.
It can also be used by thos who wear hearing aids. Gor hearing, it can be used to check hearing loss.
In conclusion, the use of this method brings benefits to all.
For the patient:
He perfoms the test in absolute tranquillity
Hes more involved, more quiet, more emotionally relaxed even on a psychologic level.
He doesnt need to express himselfs with concept and explanation unfamiliar
He feels safer in the passage of information
Hes aware of the results and its limitations.
With the best results he integrates better into society.
He lives a serene social life
For the Implant Center
Maps more accurate in shorter times, therefore better results in shorter times.
It follows and best meets the needs of a grerater number of patients
Shortens the waiting time for patiens and between a map and the next.
Lowers service costs.
Optimizes the rehabilitation phase
For the Society
It has lower costs for services in support of these people.
It integrates people more motivated and encouraged.
